BAM is an official provider of IAM RoadSmart’s Advanced Rider Course. With our team of qualified coaches we provide personal training to help you build your skills and become an Advanced Rider.

What training do we provide?
Through a series of 1:1 practical riding sessions our IAM RoadSmart qualified observers will guide you through the Advanced Rider Course to qualify as an Advanced Rider.
Additionally, our training calendar combines monthly Club Night theory with follow-up weekend practical sessions, covering topics such as Cornering, Overtaking, Filtering, Slow Riding etc.
All of which is included in your BAM membership!
Riding in urban traffic can be challenging. Hazards and situations develop quickly and the Advanced Rider knows how to prioritise to maintain a reasonable safety bubble. Bus lanes, pedestrian crossings, filtering - they all have specific rules of the road that Advanced Motorcyclists develop a deeper understanding and awareness of.
Riding the open road is what we all love. However your positioning on the road can make a vast difference on how much you can see, your amount of lean angle, and how you present yourself to other road users.
Our coaching will teach you how to position yourself on the road to gain better visibility through the corners. With improved road positioning, gear selection and awareness you'll make progress much safer, smoother and quicker than you thought possible.
As bikers we do far more overtakes than cars, simply because our bikes are smaller and more agile.
Masters skills training
Full Members only. A fantastic opportunity to brush up & improve your riding skills. Ideal preparation work for any one wishing to go in to the IAM Masters Training Programme which is the highest civilian qualification available in the UK.

Advanced Rider Course
Your IAM RoadSmart journey starts here! We’ve created an enjoyable and supportive Advanced Rider course to give you additional knowledge and skills to make your on-road experiences safer and more fulfilling.We want to help you enjoy your passion, grow friendships, and create memorable experiences on your bike, now and in the future.
Qualify as an Advanced Rider
Following your training, you will undertake a pre-test check ride, with senior observer. After successfully passing this, you can put in for your test, directly with IAM (Institute of Advanced Motorists). You will be appointed an examiner, who will contact you and agree a mutually convenient date, time and location for your test. The examiners are friendly and will put you at your ease (they want you to pass). After passing your test, you are now a full member!
Enjoy being a Full Member
You've now passed your test. Well done. This means you can now take advantage of being a full member of your club, in addition to discounts on your insurance etc, you can attend any of the amazing FMR's (Full Member Ride-outs) or choose to go on one of the wonderful tours. This is in addition to attending the ongoing training courses throughout the year, to keep your skills sharp, or even going on one of the weekly social rides.
